Our tribute to “Colby Poster Printing Company”
“Poster printing is one of the longest running trades in the world of advertising, in both its contribution to the commercial sector and its role in promoting sports and cultural events. In December 31, 2012, the family-run Colby Poster Printing Company closed its doors after three generations in the business. Responsible for providing simple yet bold prints that took over street corners and billboards from Venice to Las Vegas, Colby’s contribution to the unique art form can’t be over looked. Here, C.R. Stecyk III — a Southern California artist who’s best known for his portrayal in Dogtown and Z-Boys — visits the company to make one last print. In just under 10 minutes, we delve into memorabilia thanks to MOCAtv and learn more about the company’s contribution to the city of signs.”
